NYC Botanical Gardens Haupt Conservatory

The city that never sleeps can be overwhelming sometimes, a break from the hustle and bustle becomes necessary. There are many hidden gems in NYC where you can go to get away from it all, the NYC Botanical Gardens is such a place. Tucked away in the middle of the Bronx lies a world that seems virtually untouched by city life. Over 1 million plants from all over the world call the gardens home. There are over 50 individual gardens scattered throughout the 250 acre property. Each garden hosts different species of plants, some seem to crawl down from trees like vines, others live in small lakes and ponds. Some were so wild and alien-like they would seem to have come from another planet altogether. It also hosts a small patch of original New York forest, completely untouched giving us a glimpse of the past at how New York looked before giant buildings and noisy subways ruled the city. After a full day of shooting, the gardens seemed less like gardens and more like a organic museum of living plants.
